This past November we spent writer's workshop learning about the craft of writing stories. We discovered that most authors use the "Rule of 3". "What is this?" you may wonder. The Rule of 3 is how the author makes a story interesting! After the setting and characters have been introduced in the beginning, the author poses a problem. Then the 'meat' of the story involves the funny, problematic ways the characters try to solve this problem. The first 2 attempts will fail, causing the character to try, try again. Finally after the 3rd attempt, the character solves the problem and typically learns a lesson or moves on with his/her life! How many books can you think of that involve the "Rule of 3"? Hint* Many fairy tales follow this pattern.
We wrote a class story putting all our ideas together and then wrote individual stories. See below:)
