I PICK song and dance

One of the behaviors that strong readers develop is being able to choose a book that is "just right" for them. A book that is of their choosing, they are interested in, chosen for a specific purpose, can be understood, and they are able to read most of the words. The Daily 5 format uses the acronym I PICK to remember these important elements in choosing books.
I (I choose my own books)
P (Purpose: Do I want a book to learn from, to enjoy, to easily read....?)
I (Am I interested in this topic?)
C (Comprehension: Do I understand the book?)
K (Know: Do I know most of the words?)

We watched a few Youtube videos of other classes around the USA singing and dancing to the IPICK acronym. We decided to make our own version and record it. Two weeks ago, we chose music to sing to and with the help of our music teacher we created a beat! This past week we practiced singing and choreographed the dance. The girls made a dance and the boys did their own.
This coming week, the kiddos want to make a backdrop and discuss dress attire! Once we record and review, we will share with all of you!
